Role Of The Chair:

The Main Responsibilities Include:
Attending All Group Meetings, where possible.
Chairing all Meetings.
Ensuring correct procedures are followed at Annual General Meetings and Delivering the Chair's Report.
Welcoming Speakers and New Members to Group Meetings.
Planning and Coordinating Group activities.
Creating and Circulating Meeting Agendas.
Creating and Circulating Reports.
Maintaining Effective Records.
Producing Annual Programs.
Liaising with Diabetes UK.
Keeping Diabetes UK informed of Group Details, including Key Contacts and Meeting places.
Ensuring the Group is run in Accordance with the Diabetes UK Charter.
Approving Group Agendas and Completed Minutes of Meetings.
Filling In and Returning Diabetes UK Voluntary Groups Team annual forms.
Dealing with Group Correspondence.
Keeping the Committee Members and Group Members up-to-date with Diabetes UK Developments and News.
Maintaining a Mailing List of Contacts.
Booking Venues and Booking Speakers.
Designing Logos, Adverts, Letters, etc.
Acting as Spokesperson for the Media.
Acting as a Cheque Signatory, to Co-Sign Group Cheques, with at least one other Committee Member.

Role Of The Secretary:

The Main Responsibilities Include:
Ensuring that information from Diabetes UK, or other sources, are shared with all Committee Members.
Attending All Group Meetings, where possible.
Taking Minutes of all Meetings, such as:
- SESKU Diabetes UK Voluntary Group Meetings.
- SESKU Diabetes UK Voluntary Group Committee Meetings.
- SESKU Diabetes UK Voluntary Group Annual General Meetings.
Writing Up the Minutes of each Meeting.
Sending Copies of the Minutes to all Committee Members.
Providing Copies of the Minutes to the public, on request.
Acting as a Cheque Signatory, to Co-Sign Group Cheques, with at least one other Committee Member.

Role Of The Treasurer:

The Main Responsibilities Include:
Attending All Group Meetings, where possible.
Keeping an up-to-date record of all Financial Transactions; Income and Expenditure details and Receipts.
Ensuring the Accounts are ready for checking by the Diabetes UK Voluntary Group Accountant and Auditors.
Following Diabetes UK Accounting, Auditing and Control procedures.
Ensuring all Expenditure is in line with Diabetes UK Objectives and Guidelines.
Ensuring the Committee Members are aware of their Financial Duties and Responsibilities.
Preparing and Submitting the Annual Return to the Diabetes UK Voluntary Group Accountant by February 14.
Budgetting the Group's Resources.
Banking all Income into the Group's Account ASAP.
Completing VAT Exemption Forms for all Purchases, where appropriate.
Checking and Reconciling Bank Statements promptly.
Acting as a Cheque Signatory, to Co-Sign Group Cheques, with at least one other Committee Member.

Role Of The Website Administrator:

The Main Responsibilities Include:
Attending All Group Meetings, where possible.
Keeping the website within Diabetes UK recommendations.
Designing and Maintaining all webpages.
Keeping the website up-to-date.
Adding new information promptly.
Adding Minutes of all SESKU Diabetes UK Voluntary Group Meetings.

Joint Roles Of The Committee Members:

The Main Responsibilities Include:
Advertising the Group Letting people know that we are here.
Responding to queries from the general public; No Major Decisions to be made without Committee approval.
Finding people willing to do a Presentation, or Talk, on a Food, Health, or Diabetes Related Topic.
Assisting with Planning and Coordinating of Group activities.
Assisting with ideas for Meeting Agendas & Annual Programs.
Creating new contacts Act as a point of contact Sharing details with all Committee Members.
Gaining new Members Act as a point of contact Sharing details with all Committee Members.
Attending all Group Meetings, where possible.

No Correspondence or Adverts to be sent, or used, without Committee approval.
All Design Change Ideas Require a Committee Majority.
The Current Roles of Committee Members May Change as the Group Expands.
All Role Changes Require a Committee Majority.
All Major Decisions Require a Committee Majority.

All Committee Members to Order SESKU Business Cards for use with the General Public.

The Blue Circle is the Universal Symbol for Diabetes, and as been used since 2006.
The Caduceus, featuring two snakes curled around an often winged staff, is used as the Universal Symbol for Medicine.
